Nothing will change unless you take action. First, sign up here on our 'subscribe' link and we will add your email to our contact list. This will keep you up to date with news relating to the HOAs and the City response to the recent consultation over them. Ask us questions: you might be in two minds, hoping to develop your block yourself one day. So do we! But we believe that development should not destroy existing communities, and examples from other local governments in Perth show that it doesn't have to! What we have in the HOAs is lazy planning that will do nothing to really address the massive challenges that will be posed by a 40% increase in Perth's Metropolitan Population. Yes, that is a 40% increase to 3.5 million people in the Peel and Perth Metropolitan Region. Scary? We think so.
You may not live in an HOA and think this isn't your issue. Well, a 40% increase in population will affect everyone in Perth and cramming Joondalup's share into just 16% of the City via the HOAs seems to us to be a pretty risky exercise in social engineering that has a spectacularly bad track record elsewhere in the world. So what does the City of Joondalup have, or know, that will make it work here?
We don't know either!
Ultimately we need people who decide to help us to make sure their local Councillors and members of Parliament know how they feel. You can find all the relevant details in the 'Links' section of this site. Now is a time to get across the issues. We can host information sessions for you and your friends and neighbours, and point you towards information that can demystify the jargon and navigate the maze of responsibility for this issue. And we will be sure to let you know when these issues come up at Council so you can attend and make your voices heard. Together we can make sure we grow as a community that supports GOOD development!
