New Planning Framework

The City of Joondalup has a proposed new strategy for its infill housing and this proposal will be voted on at the next Council Meeting on the 21st of May 2019.

This new strategy has come about because there has been significant resident dissatisfaction with the existing infill housing strategy. In response to that the City engaged consultants last year to review the existing strategy and recommend changes to it.

Extensive public consultation with the affected communities was carried out and a revised infill strategy has been proposed in its Draft New Planning Framework for Infill Development.

What is on the table is just a ‘plan for development’. It is not a plan for making our communities better notwithstanding that the consultation was carried out by a company named Creating Communities Pty Ltd.

Many residents only find out about the City’s existing infill housing strategy when a development starts close to where they live. Most won’t know about this proposed revised strategy.

Over the next few weeks we will try to inform people about this proposal through a series of information sheets on it.
