HOAs to have Development Controls

City instructed to provide the Council for their approval a Local Planning Policy for Housing Opportunity Areas as quickly as possible. In addition to undertaking community consultation on the remainder of the report on the Planning Framework for Infill Development.

This will provide the long-awaited development controls for the residents of Housing Opportunity Areas in the City of Joondalup.

C31-05/19 PROCEDURAL MOTION – THAT THE ITEM BE REFERRED BACK -

CJ052-05/19 – Draft New Planning Framework for Infill Development, BE REFERRED BACK to the Chief Executive Officer to allow:

1. Relevant provisions of Section Three: General Development Provisions of the draft Joondalup Place Neighbourhoods Local Planning Policy to be extracted and compiled to form a separate, new local planning policy and scheme amendment for Council’s consideration at an upcoming Council meeting;

2. The City to engage and consult with the community on the draft Joondalup Place Neighbourhoods Local Planning Policy and Scheme Amendment No. 3 to the City of Joondalup Local Planning Scheme No. 3, ahead of any formal initiation of Scheme Amendment No. 3.

Section Three: General Development Provisions is a 10-page document written by the City’s consultants which will form the Local Planning Policy requested by the Council.

What can you do to help now?

Consider writing to our Mayor and Ward Councillors asking that our Administration work to deliver their report on the Local Planning Policy as quickly as possible so that the Policy can be put in place.

Also consider writing to the Minister for Planning and ask that she does all she can to ensure our Local Planning Policy is reviewed and approved quickly at State level.
